Oct 16, 2024

Young drivers are already higher-risk than other age groups due to their inexperience, their likelihood of being distracted while driving, and the higher prevalence of dangerous behaviors like speeding or not wearing a seatbelt.

A driver faces a fourth OWI after Madison police pulled over a vehicle after seeing glass bottles tossed from it on East Washington Avenue on Monday night.

Officers made the traffic stop about 11:50 p.m. at East Washington Avenue and South First Street after seeing occupants of the car throwing glass bottles out of the windows, police spokesperson and officer Stephanie Fryer said in a statement.

All those inside the vehicle were heavily intoxicated.

The driver, a 29-year-old man, was arrested for a fourth offense of OWI, and a pair of 19-year-old male passengers were arrested on tentative charges of underage drinking, littering, obstructing and resisting.
